A diagram of the house in which Anne Frank wrote her diary. On July 6, 1942, she and seven other family members and friends went into hiding in the upper floors of this business in Amsterdam. They remained there until August 4, 1994, when they were discovered and deported to various extermination camps. Only her father, Otto Frank, survived.
The Anne Frank House is now a fantastic museum that I highly recommend visiting. The structure itself has been thoroughly preserved and the walking tour (while emotionally straining) is a memorable experience worth the effort.
